RESOLUTION



Bearing in mind HRH Princess Dr. Nisreen El-Hashemite’s leading role in and outstanding contribution to education, science, and the arts for the world’s development, her support for science equity, diversity, and inclusion, and the science-based solutions and contribution to Socio-Economic sustainable development, humanitarian aid, and the promotion of a culture of peace throughout the world,


Bearing in mind also HRH Princess Dr. Nisreen El-Hashemite’s values and her dedication to the service of humanity as a humanitarian in the fields of development, promotion, and protection of human rights, gender equality, as well as the uplifting of underprivileged and underdeveloped communities,


Wishing to further honor and pay homage to the extraordinary life and achievements of HRH Princess Dr. Nisreen El-Hashemite, the Royal Academy of Science International Trust (RASIT) has established the HRH Princess Dr. Nisreen El-Hashemite’s Medal of Honor to be known as “The Science Princess", that shall be presented in an annual Summit.



THE MEDAL





Will be presented annually to five individual laureates: girls in science, female youth and young professionals, science teachers, and boys and men supporting gender equality in science, who shall not be selected from the same geographic region, as a tribute to their outstanding achievements and contributions to education, science, the arts, innovation, human development, and social sustainable development.


In recognition of the modesty of HRH Princess Dr. Nisreen El-Hashemite, the prize awarded to each laureate is a specially crafted Royal Medal and Decree Proclamation.



THE SUMMIT





The Annual Summit aims to crystallize one or more of the major themes in science for socio-economic sustainable development, to gather its network, and to draw in new talent.


The Summit will feature a keynote speech to be delivered by a distinguished individual from public life, the private sector, or academia and shall be attended by influential minds from politics, the international community, business, academic institutions, finance, and the tech and creative industries.

designed to recognize, inspire, and celebrate the outstanding achievements of who have demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication in the field of science, how to utilize their science knowledge for community and society development, and encourage more girls to pursue careers in science fields.



Female Youth



designed to recognize, inspire, and celebrate outstanding achievements of female youth who have demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication in the fields of science, and how to utilize their science knowledge for community / society development. The award aims to promote gender equality in science, break down stereotypes, and encourage female youth to remain in science.



Female Young Professional



designed to recognize, inspire, and celebrate the outstanding achievements of female young professionals who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in research and innovation, and how to utilize their science knowledge and work for society sustainable development programs. The award aims to encourage support for female young professionals to remain in science.



Gender Equality Allies



designed to recognize, inspire, and celebrate boys and men who have demonstrated exceptional support for empowering and promoting girls, female youth, and women in the field of science. By acknowledging the hard work and passion of male youth and adults in equity, diversity, and inclusion, the award aims to promote gender equality in science, break down stereotypes, and encourage more boys and men to support their female peers to pursue careers and remain in science fields.



Science Teachers



designed to recognize, inspire, and celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions of science teachers who have demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication to science education, and how to utilize their science knowledge for students’ development and promote equality and inclusion. The award aims to recognize the role of science teachers in achieving equity, diversity and inclusion for socio-economic sustainable development.



OBJECTIVES



Girls in Science



To inspire and motivate more girls to embrace science and pursue careers in science particularly applied and natural science and engineering fields andTo raise public awareness about the importance of investing in future female scientists and leaders.


Female Youth



To inspire and motivate more female youth to remain in science particularly applied and natural science and engineering fields To promote gender equality and create a more inclusive environment in the scientific community andTo encourage female youth to utilize science knowledge and work in innovation for sustainable development programs.


Female Young Professional



To motivate more funding and support for female Young Professionals to remain in science particularly applied and natural science and engineering fieldsTo promote gender equality and create a more inclusive environment in the scientific communityTo raise public awareness about the importance of female representation in science, and inspire the younger generation to pursue science studies and professions.


Gender Equality Allies



To honor and acknowledge the role of boys and men in supporting and achieving equality in science
To inspire and motivate partnership and collaboration between male and female in projects and programs for sustainable development
To promote gender equality and create a more inclusive environment in the scientific community and
To raise public awareness about the importance of male support for gender equality and the need for female representation in science.


Science Teachers



To honor and acknowledge the role of Science Teachers
To inspire and motivate more individuals to choose teaching science as a career
To promote Teachers and their role in human development programs To encourage science teachers to utilize science knowledge and work to promote gender equality, diversity and inclusion in science for sustainable development programs and
To raise public awareness about the importance of investing in science education.


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA



Girls in Science



  • Female students from the age of 10 up to the age of 17.
  • Demonstrated excellence in science, as evidenced by academic achievements, research projects, inventions, or innovative ideas.
  • Displayed a passion for science and a commitment to pursuing a career in STEM fields.
  • Exhibited strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire others.
  • Engaged in community outreach and service and/ or mentorship activities related to science, arts, and sustainable development.


Female Youth



  • Female youth from 18 years up to the age of 25.
  • Demonstrated excellence in science, as evidenced by academic achievements, research projects, inventions, or innovative ideas.
  • Displayed a passion for science and a commitment to remain in STEM fields.
  • Exhibited strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire others.
  • Engaged in community outreach and service and/ or mentorship activities related to science, arts, and sustainable development.


Female Young Professional



  • Female young professionals working in research, whether in the public or private sector, from the age of 26 up to the age of 35.
  • Demonstrated excellence in science, as evidenced by academic achievements and publications, research projects, inventions, or innovative ideas.
  • Exhibited strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire others.
  • Engaged in community outreach, service, and/ or mentorship activities related to science, the arts, and sustainable development.


Gender Equality Allies



  • Open for male youth from 12 years up to the age of 25, and adult male professionals.
  • Demonstrated excellence in science teaching, mentoring, promoting, and collaboration with female colleagues.
  • Displayed a passion for equity, diversity, and inclusion in science and sustainable development programs.
  • Exhibited strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire others.
  • Engaged in community outreach and service and/ or mentorship activities related to equity, diversity and inclusion in science, arts, and sustainable development activities.


Science Teachers



  • School Science Teacher. Demonstrated excellence in teaching, as evidenced by academic achievements, projects, or innovative ideas in teaching.
  • Displayed a passion for science teaching and a commitment to remain in the education system.
  • Exhibited strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire others.
  • Engaged in community outreach and service and/ or mentorship activities related to science, arts, and sustainable development.

  • The Science Princess Royal Medal of HRH Princess Dr. Nisreen El-Hashemite
  • A Royal Decree signed by HRH Princess Dr. Nisreen El-Hashemite, a prominent figure in the world of science
  • Public recognition at an annual awards ceremony, with media coverage and promotion on social media platforms
  • Invitation to participate in exclusive events of the Science Princess with leading scientists and industry professionals, including the Annual Women and Girls in Science International Assembly, held annually at the United Nations and
  • For girls, and youth: access to a mentorship program with prominent women in science experts and professionals who can provide guidance and support throughout the recipient's academic and professional journey.


THE APPLICATION



The Science Princess Awards is a 2-part application process.



ROUND 1: THE NOMINATION

DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 15, 2024 (18.00 USA-EST)

Individuals are nominated and together with their nominator submit their nominator letter of recommendation, Nominee statement, a brief biography, work example, and headshot. Selected Nominees are invited to continue in the application process by the April 15, 2024.


ROUND 2: FULL APPLICATION

DEADLINE: JUNE 1, 2024 (18.00 USA-EST)

Applicants invited to continue in the application process submit additional written material and work samples.
